Carefully hollowed out into the pages is a hidden compartment, perfect for storing jewellery, small valuables, notes, valuable papers, or passports, all in plain sight on a bookshelf or desk. Inside the cavity sits an original typing practice page - a small nod to its past life.
It's a clever mix of nostalgia and practicality, turning an ordinary vintage manual into a discreet place to keep something meaningful. Each book is carefully hollowed out in my Inner West Sydney studio, preserving the original book's character while creating a sturdy hidden space inside.
