Carefully upcycled into a hidden book safe, it now offers a discreet place to store small valuables or keepsakes while still sitting on a shelf like a beautifully aged historical volume. The illustrated cover and spine give it a strong, classic presence, but inside there's a hollowed compartment designed to keep something safely tucked away.
On the inside, something particularly special sits. An original certificate dated May 11th 1901, issued in the name of the King and Queen, likely awarded for an essay. It adds a genuine connection to the era and makes this piece feel as much like a keepsake as it is a functional object. Inside the compartment, an original illustration from the book has been preserved, continuing that sense of history.
Each piece is carefully hollowed in my Inner West Sydney studio, preserving the character of the book while giving it a practical new purpose.

Because each book is upcycled, small signs of its previous life can sometimes remain, which only adds to the character.
