Now carefully upcycled into a hidden book safe, it offers a discreet place to store small valuables or keepsakes while sitting quietly on a shelf like any other classic crime novel. The illustrated purple, black and gold cover gives it a rich, slightly dramatic feel, while inside is a hollowed compartment, hidden neatly within the pages.
At the base of the compartment is an original illustration from the book. Each piece is carefully hollowed out by me in my Inner West Sydney studio, giving this vintage folio book a practical new purpose.

This is a real book that has been carefully hollowed out, not a decorative box made to look like one. The pages are sealed, so the book keeps its shape while creating a practical hidden compartment inside.
