Now carefully upcycled into a hidden book safe, it offers a discreet place to store small valuables or keepsakes while still looking right at home on a bookshelf. The green-and-gold illustrated cover gives a classic, timeless feel, while the hollowed compartment is neatly hidden within the pages.
The original endpapers have been preserved and continue into the base of the hidden space, keeping the character of the book intact. Each piece is carefully hollowed out in my Inner West Sydney studio, giving this well-known story a practical new purpose.

This is a real book that has been carefully hollowed out, not a decorative box made to look like one. The pages are sealed, so the book keeps its shape while creating a practical hidden compartment inside.
Because each book is upcycled, small signs of its previous life can sometimes remain, which only adds to the character.
