From the outside, it looks like a classic illustrated mystery book, complete with its original cover, spine and back artwork. Inside, a hidden compartment is carefully cut into the pages, perfect for keeping jewellery, small valuables or keepsakes.
The original illustrated endpapers remain inside the book, adding a lovely, nostalgic detail when the book is opened. Each book is carefully hollowed in my Inner West Sydney studio, preserving the charm of the original book while creating a practical hidden space inside.

This is a real book that has been carefully hollowed out, not a decorative box made to look like one. The pages are sealed, so the book keeps its shape while creating a practical hidden compartment inside.
Because each book is upcycled, small signs of its previous life can sometimes remain, which only adds to the character.
