From the outside, it looks like a beautiful old book on the shelf, complete with its illustrated cover, spine and back cover. Inside, a hidden compartment is carefully cut into the pages, perfect for storing jewellery, keepsakes, or small valuables while keeping them tucked safely out of sight.
The original endpapers remain inside the book, and the bases of the hidden compartment feature an original page from the story itself. Each book is carefully hollowed out in my Inner West Sydney studio, preserving the original book's character while creating a practical hidden storage space.

This is a real book that has been carefully hollowed out, not a decorative box made to look like one. The pages are sealed, so the book keeps its shape while creating a practical hidden compartment inside.
Because each book is upcycled, small signs of its previous life can sometimes remain, which only adds to the character.
